The Department of Communication Studies offers programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels including a bachelor of arts degree in Communication Studies with concentrations in Organizational Communication, Public Relations and Speech Communication; an undergraduate minor in Communication Studies; as well as a master of arts degree in Public and Organizational Relations. Grounded in a strong liberal arts curriculum combined with professional training, the programs of study afford students specialized learning experiences, thus preparing them for a multitude of careers where highly developed communication skills are valued.  Research and writing, oral presentation and visual communication through effective information processing are key emphases of the majors.

At the undergraduate level, specialized internships, the Dannis B. Eaton Public Speaking Competition and the National Communication Honor Society of Lambda Pi Eta provide recognition  opportunities; and Public Relations majors may become members of the Public Relations Student Society of America. The Department also has a strong relationship with New York Women in Communications and other professional groups that offer internships, scholarships, and on-the-job mentoring.

At the graduate level, the Master of Arts in Public and Organizational Relations focuses on more advanced theoretical and practical approaches to communication while at the same time fostering original research and creative projects.  The Department of Communication Studies prides itself on its exceptional faculty, extensive curricula and the success of its graduates.
