Chairperson: Jeremy Price

The department provides courses that offer theoretical and practical understandings of education and schooling from multiple perspectives. Courses include attention to issues of diversity, democracy, and social justice in education and draw from traditions and perspectives in History of Education, Philosophy of Education, Psychology of Education, and Sociology of Education. The department offers undergraduate and graduate courses in teacher education programs and also offers specialized courses that focus on education in contexts outside the boundaries of public schools.
