The department provides courses that offer theoretical and practical understandings of education and schooling from multiple perspectives. Courses include attention to issues of diversity, democracy, and social justice in education and draw from traditions and perspectives in History of Education, Philosophy of Education, Psychology of Education, and Sociology of Education. The department offers undergraduate and graduate courses in teacher education programs, research methodology courses in graduate and doctoral programs, and also offers specialization courses that focus on education outside of the boundaries of public schools.
