Saba Maher, Esq., is the incoming Investigations & Employee Relations Specialist within the Division of Human Resources, reporting to Qiana Watson, Esq., Associate Vice President of Labor & Compliance.

Prior to joining the University, Saba served as Agency Attorney at the Office of Employment and Fair Housing Investigations at the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). Saba has broad knowledge in the areas of Criminal law, Civil Rights law, Employment law, and Internal Investigations.

During her time at NYCHA, she honed her craft by investigating complex employee and tenant complaints of discrimination and sexual harassment, counseling and training Executives, Managers and the Workforce on EEO policies and procedures, and ensuring that EEO compliance measures were met. Saba has completed training from the New York County Lawyers Association Wage and Employment Advance Mediation Program, The Eastern District of New York’s Mediation Advocacy Program, The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s New York District Equal Employment Opportunity Training Program, and she is certified in Reasonable Accommodations and as a Fair Housing Specialist. Ms. Maher is also recognized as a Certified EEO Professional by the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

Most recently, she was a guest lecturer at Benjamin Cardozo School of Law teaching the Capstone course for the Cardozo ADR Competition Honor Society on Cross Cultural Mediation, with a special focus on tackling unconscious bias.

Saba is an attorney licensed in the state of New York and New Jersey. She received her Juris Doctorate from Golden Gate University School of Law as a distinguished student in the Honors Lawyering Program and delivered the commencement speech for her graduating class. Both during and since graduating law school, Saba has been committed to using the law as an instrument of social change and helping give voice to those most vulnerable.

In her spare time, Saba conducts Know Your Rights training to Non-profit organizations and members of the New Jersey community, including refugee and diaspora communities.
