Profile

Lauren Dinour is a Professor of Nutrition and the Director of the Didactic Program in Dietetics in the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies at Montclair State University. She also serves as the Community Engaged Teaching and Learning Scholar through the Office of Community Engagement and Partnerships. A Registered Dietitian (RD), certified lactation counselor (CLC), and public health professional, Dr. Dinour holds a DrPH and MPH with a concentration in Public Health Nutrition. Her research focuses on health-promoting policies, programs, and practices that improve childhood nutrition and food security, particularly in the areas of breastfeeding/chestfeeding, school food, and university settings. Dr. Dinour co-authored the text, Nutrition in Public Health: Principles, Policies, and Practice, 2nd edition (CRC Press, 2016) and is a Section Editor for the International Journal of Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement. Her work appears in peer-reviewed journals such as Breastfeeding Medicine, Health Education and Behavior, Journal of American College Health, Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, Journal of Human Lactation, Public Health Nutrition, and Women's Health Issues. Prior to joining the faculty at Montclair State University, Dr. Dinour worked as a clinical dietetics practitioner, community dietitian, and public health researcher.
