Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (H&H Week for short) is a national week where people bring awareness to the problems of hunger and homelessness. Throughout this week, those that are participating hold a series of educational, service, fundraising, and advocacy events.

In the past, several organizations have hosted H&H week events. H&H collaborates with University departments, offices, and student organizations to help bring awareness to the MSU community. We will provide service opportunities for our students to give back to the community, help with the Red Hawk Pantry, and offer educative and advocacy events as resources on how to help themselves and/or others in need.
H&H week is always the week before Thanksgiving.

The events each year can vary based on the need and circumstances. Prior to the pandemic, events consisted of tabling events to bring educational awareness, sandwich making, food drives, clothing drives, off-campus community service, etc. With the COVID-19 Pandemic, social distancing didn’t allow us to have our usual options for H&H week.
- If you’re part of an organization on campus that is willing to help by hosting an event, please email volunteer@montclair.edu with your interest. If you already have an event related to the theme of hunger or homelessness, please let us know as well as we can include it in our week of events.
- If you’d like to help volunteer by setting up, check-in or clean up events, please fill out this form on our Engage portal.
- Support our Pack to Give Back event, which is hosted during common hour at the beginning of H&H week.
