Start the academic year off by doing some good at one of the many service projects available on and off campus.
The Center for Community Engagement and Volunteer Center host an annual service event to honor and remember the victims and first responders of the September 11 tragedy. This service event has had on average 350 students, faculty, alumni and local community members serve on campus, in the Montclair community, and in its surrounding areas. Together students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members have contributed more than 10,000 volunteer hours.
Our 9/11 Day of Service on Saturday September 9th 2023 was a great success. There were nearly 400 volunteers who served with over 20 sites. We also had a service fair where students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members were able to learn about some of our partnered organizations! Thank you to those that participated. We will see you next year!
9/11 Day of Service 2021
On the 20th Anniversary of 9/11, the 2021 Day of Service was more essential than those in the past. Volunteers had the opportunity to volunteer off-campus, with some on-campus opportunities. Service sites ranged from food pantries, sorting medical supplies, gardening, planting, painting, socializing with adults with disabilities, socializing with senior citizens, & cleaning.
9/11 Day of Service 2022
On the 21st Anniversary of 9/11, our annual Day of Service in honor of those we lost that day 21 years ago consisted of a variety of service sites. These service sites involved food pantries, parks, senior homes, street cleanups, facility cleanups and more.
9/11 Day of Service 2023
On the 22nd Anniversary of 9/11, our annual Day of Service in honor of those we lost that day 22 years ago consisted of almost 400 Montclair State University community members gathered to serve across 20+ sites.
They served meals, painted houses, packed groceries, collected donations, and stuff 322 bookbags.
