Campus Gets a Taste of New Dining Options

New dining plans, more food choices and exciting experiences are in store as the University welcomes Gourmet Dining as its new food service provider.

Record Number of Students Accepted

Hundreds of faculty, staff and student ambassadors welcomed some 8,040 visitors to campus for two Accepted Student Days this spring.


University Partners with Montclair Literary Festival

The 7th Annual Festival will bring several events to campus, including conversations with New York Times bestselling authors Joyce Maynard and Deb Perleman.

Upcoming Events

  • Take Charge of Your Change, an in-person and virtual lecture for employees, will be held Friday, April 28, 11 a.m. – noon. Health and wellness coach Laurie Reynolds will provide tools for creating lasting lifestyle changes. The event will take place in the Student Center room 411. Registration is required if attending virtually.
  • Join the Office of the Provost and the Office of Hispanic Initiatives for a presentation by Gina Ann Garcia, professor at the University of Pittsburgh, as she discusses her research on how Hispanic-Serving Institutions serve minority populations, students, faculty and staff and how race and racism shape these groups in higher education. Wednesday, May 3, 1 – 2:15 p.m. at the School of Communication and Media Presentation Hall.
  • The Employee Health and Safety Fair will take place Wednesday, May 10, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Student Center Ballrooms. Professional staff and experts from both Atlantic Health and the University will be on-site to meet with participants and discuss improving safety and staying healthy.   • Employees are invited to enjoy prime field-level seats at Yankee Stadium for the game between the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, May 11. A portion of every ticket sold will benefit the Charles J. Muth Museum of Hinchliffe Stadium. Each special event ticket includes a bobblehead of legendary pitcher Satchel Paige.

  • Tonight is Faculty/Staff Family Swim Night at the Student Recreation Center. All faculty and staff are invited to bring up to 4 guests, age 5 and up, for free, 4 – 7 p.m. Register at 4 p.m. Admittance is limited to the first 50 people. Don’t forget your University ID!
  • Rocky’s Closet is accepting donations of Montclair caps and gowns to help students celebrate their accomplishments at Commencement. For more information please contact, rockyscloset@montclair.edu or escobark@montclair.edu.
  • Explore offerings from Learning and Development for a variety of leadership and professional development opportunities available this spring.
  • The Division of Human Resources provides a full range of services on campus at 18 Normal Avenue. Stop by to discuss employee benefits, tuition waivers, payroll matters or retirement planning. Questions regarding the satellite office location? Contact HR at hr@montclair.edu or 973-655-7736.
  • 25Live, which enables the University to optimize the use of classrooms, meeting rooms and other spaces available on campus, will soon be used as the University calendar on montclair.edu. Make sure your events get listed! Learn how by registering for online or in-person training.
  • The Employee Assistance Program provides free, confidential support services for University employees and their families – including locating resources for substance abuse, mental health and self-help. For more information, see the attached CONCERN brochure.
  • Worried about a student’s well-being? Please refer them to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).
  • If you or a loved one is experiencing a mental health crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988, the new nationwide 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline for free, confidential support, 24/7.
  • You can find the latest campus COVID-19 data, including case numbers, on the COVID-19 Dashboard.

  • To Stephanie Silvera (Public Health) for receiving the New Jersey Public Health Association’s President’s Award for her outstanding contributions and dedication to the health of the public of New Jersey.
  • To Marilyn Moya (Hispanic Initiatives) for receiving the William A. Cuff Award presented to an outstanding educator who has made a significant contribution to the education of students at Montclair State University.
  • To the University Development staff for putting on a Donor Celebration for more than 150 donors to show gratitude for and the impact of philanthropic support to students and the University.
