Dedication Event Marks Alumna’s Deep Connection to Montclair
Former staff member and alumna Lise Green has donated a gift to establish the Dr. Lise M. Greene Archives Research Fund for the University Libraries.

Dr. Huijian ‘David’ Dong Joins College as Senior Assistant Dean for Education and Engagement
Dr. Dong will manage all internal and external centers within the College for Education and Engaged Learning, collectively known as the CEEL Center Consortium (CCC).

2025 College Rankings: U.S. News & World Report Ranks Online Graduate Programs Among Nation’s Best
The seven University programs that participate in the survey include the master’s in Business Administration (MBA), master’s in Educational Leadership, master’s in Information Technology, master’s in Business Analytics, master’s in Digital Marketing Analytics, master’s in Human Resources Analytics and master’s in Nursing (MSN).

Cooking with Koppell
Do you make the best pozole? Do you know someone who is an amazing chef? Nominate them to be on the next episode of Cooking with Koppell! This student-produced show features Red Hawk students, staff, and faculty teaching President Koppell how to make a dish that reflects their heritage, family, or experiences. The show celebrates the diversity and stories of the Montclair community. This upcoming season, we are particularly excited to feature our staff—the dedicated individuals working both behind the scenes and on the front lines—whose invaluable contributions keep our university running smoothly. Important Dates:
- There are no classes on Monday, January 20, Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
- Spring 2025 Session B ends Friday, March 7
- The last day of Spring 2025 Session A and C is Monday, May 5. Classes will meet on a Friday schedule.

- Ethan Hein (Adjunct, Cali School of Music), wrote a piece for Music Radar breaking down Brian Eno’s “Ambient 1: Music For Airports.”
- Gabriel Rubin (Justice Studies), who has conducted research on Gen Z, is quoted in this New York Post article about the appeal vulnerability in males in the dating scene. Rubin’s research is also cited in this Women’s Health magazine article about the “sober curious” scene.
- Fanny Lauby (Political Science) cited in this Le Monde article on Joe Biden’s efforts to protect his legacy during his last few days in office. She was also interviewed by France 24 and LaCroix International, a daily Catholic newspaper in France, about Donald Trump’s executive orders on immigration.

- Joel Penney (Communication and Media) is mentioned in this article published by The Hill about Carrie Underwood’s performance at inauguration hinting at Trump celebrity thaw.

- To the Office of Hispanic Initiatives for being awarded the Corazon Award for outstanding in-kind support from Hispanics Inspiring Students’ Performance and Achievement (HISPA).
- To Gerald Holmes (Head Coach, Men’s Basketball, Bloomfield), who marked his 400th career win. The Bloomfield College men’s basketball team captured a solid Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) decision over Caldwell University by a score of, 85-66. Gerald has coached the program for 23 years.
- To Steve McCarthy (Communication and Media), whose Holocaust documentary, Eva’s Promise, is airing on WNET on Tuesday, January 28 at 10 p.m. The documentary was previously aired on PBS stations throughout the country. The film is being distributed by American Public Television, the largest distributor of programs for PBS.
- To the Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children, which published a double review of picture books dealing with children (one younger, one older) coping with wildfires, in its “Thinking in Stories” weblog as a resource for young people, their families, and their schools in this situation.
- To Phoebe Farber, David Strobbe, Doug Chapman (Theatre and Dance) and Chris Parker (Classics and General Humanities) have co authored the textbook, “Igniting the Spark: Activating Your Creative Mind,” in connection to their Creative Thinking course.
- To Julie Heffernan (Art and Design), who partnered with Martin Guitar to design a new limited-edition acoustic guitar featuring her oil painting “Self-Portrait as Arms and the Men”.
- To Roman Liera (Educational Leadership) whose co-written paper on using the Equity Scorecard to engage in equity-minded changes, was featured in the Journal of Student Affairs and Research Practice.
