The Spring Tuition Waiver/ Reimbursement deadline is January 1, 2025. All applications MUST be submitted to the Division of Human Resources via Workday.

Spring 2025 Reminders for Instructors

Please see the new academic calendar announcement from August. As you complete your fall courses, consider how you will condense your course to meet the new formats. A few highlights:

  • Spring 2025 Sessions A and B begin Friday, January 17. Classes will meet for 14 and 7 week sessions on a Monday Schedule.
  • The new schedule has two common hours: Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
  • The calendar of University meetings has changed – see administrative calendar/schedule of meetings.
  • You can view the Time Block Grid directly to understand the details of the new schedule.
  • For more information, consult OFE’s FAQs on the Spring 2025 calendar.

Important Dates to Remember:

  • There are no classes on Monday, January 20, Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
  • Spring 2025 Session B ends Friday, March 7
  • The last day of Spring 2025 Session A and C is Monday, May 5. Classes will meet on a Friday schedule.

Textbook Adoptions for Spring Semester

Faculty teaching winter session and spring semester courses can order textbooks and course materials from the University Bookstore. When faculty adopt textbooks through Follett, the University’s exclusive textbook and course materials provider, students benefit by being able to:

  • easily see and obtain books and materials needed on both the University Bookstore website and in Canvas.
  • seamlessly use financial aid dollars to cover textbook costs.
  • access textbook scholarships that are only accepted at the University Bookstore.

How to use Follett Discover to adopt your textbooks and course materials:

  • Log into Canvas with your Net ID and password.
  • Select “Follett Discover” from the left-side menu.
  • Start discovering!

To keep our campus secure, remember: never to share your username, password, or two-factor authentication (2fa) code. The university will never ask you for this information. If you have accidently shared your credentials please change your password immediately and notify the Service Desk.

Kudos

  • To Junius Gonzales (Provost and Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs), who has been elected to serve on the Executive Committee for the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities’ Council on Academic Affairs and as Vice President for the Association of Chief Academic Officers. He has also been reappointed as a faculty member for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ New Provost Academy for a second year.
  • To Vincent Alfonso (Interim Dean, College of Education and Engaged Learning), who was selected as President of the Trainers of School Psychologists (TSP) for the 2024-2025 academic year. TSP directly supports the education and professional development of faculty who prepare and foster future school psychologists at higher education institutions across the U.S.
  • To Teresa Fiore (World Languages and Cultures), who published and presented an essay about Dawit L. Petros’ exhibit “Prospetto a mare” in Chicago which deals with issues of race, colonialism, and emigration through multi-media artwork.
  • To Benjamin Nienass (Political Science and Law), who was invited by the Harvard Kennedy School’s German American Conference to speak about the role of Germany’s memorial culture in rethinking and strengthening transatlantic relations.
  • To Daniel Jean (Educational Opportunity and Success Programs, Academic Affairs), who presented on the MEGA initiative and the Post-COVID Scholars program at the International Conference on Urban Education. His insights were featured in an article by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.
  • To Vania Penha-Lopes (Sociology, Bloomfield), delivered a lecture at Stockton University about her book, The Presidential Elections of Trump and Bolsonaro, Witness, and the Nation.
  • To Roman Liera (Educational Leadership), who along with colleagues, published an article on racialization in presidential search and appointment processes with AERA Open.
  • To the Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children (IAPC) which celebrates its 50th Anniversary this month. Established in 1974, the IAPC has fellows and affiliate centers across the United States and in more than 50 countries. The IAPC welcomes anniversary donations from those committed to educational policies and practices that enable children’s philosophical thinking.
  • To the Feliciano School of Business which has been recognized as one of the top three in the MBA Program and Accounting Degree categories in the NJBIZ 2024 Reader Rankings.
