Cans for Citations

The Cans for Citations program will begin Monday, November 18 through Wednesday, November 22. Each non-expired canned, non-perishable item, dry good or personal hygiene item is worth $10 toward one open citation. Donating multiple items can cover the value of an entire citation. Example: a citation worth $50.00 may be paid using five (5) qualifying items. Open packages, glass jars and damaged or unlabeled items will not be accepted.

Items can be brought to the Parking Office on Level 1 of the Red Hawk Deck, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Only one (1) citation dismissal will be awarded.

Attend the following table events to get two (2) citations removed:

  •  Monday, November 18, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Montclair campus, Student Center, 2nd Floor Lobby
  • Tuesday, November 19, 12-3 p.m., Bloomfield campus, Parking Office, 229 Liberty Street
  • Wednesday, November 20, 12-3 p.m. Montclair campus, Red Hawk Pantry
  • Thursday, November 21, 12-3 p.m., Montclair campus, Student Center, 2nd Floor Lobby
  • Friday, November 22, 12-3p.m., Montclair campus, Student Center ,2nd Floor Lobby

The following citations will not be dismissed as part of the program:

  • Tampering with University Equipment
  • Shared Permit or Boot Violation
  • Parking in Reserved Space, Grass, or Sidewalk
  • Parked in Fire Lane or PWD Space Violation

Textbook Adoptions for Spring Semester

Faculty teaching winter session and spring semester courses can order textbooks and course materials from the University Bookstore. When faculty adopt textbooks through Follett, the University’s exclusive textbook and course materials provider, students benefit by being able to:

  • easily see and obtain books and materials needed on both the University Bookstore website and in Canvas.
  • seamlessly use financial aid dollars to cover textbook costs.
  • access textbook scholarships that are only accepted at the University Bookstore.

How to use Follett Discover to adopt your textbooks and course materials:

  • Log into Canvas with your Net ID and password.
  • Select “Follett Discover” from the left-side menu.
  • Start discovering!

Information Security: Protect Your Credentials

To keep our campus secure, remember: never to share your username, password, or two-factor authentication (2fa) code. The university will never ask you for this information. If you have accidently shared your credentials please change your password immediately and notify the Service Desk.

  • Te Wu (Management), co-authored a piece for the Central Penn Business Journal about how to deal with a politically charged workplace.
  • Matthew Aardema (Biology), is quoted in this NorthJersey.com article about several insect species lingering due to the warm weather that we have been experiencing.
  • Fanny Lauby (Political Science and Law), participated in a radio show on France Culture, discussing the impact of economic issues on the U.S. presidential election.
  • Jaime Grinberg (Educational Foundations), was interviewed by Radio Universidad de Cordoba, Argentina, for the program “La Voz de la Paz.” The topic of discussion was the results of last week’s elections, expected developments in higher education in the US, and potential international relations policy changes and prospects for ending armed conflicts and advancing peace under the new incoming administration.
  • In an opinion piece for NorthJersey.com, Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh acknowledges Montclair for its partnership and support on several initiatives including One Square Mile and the Charles J. Muth Museum of Hinchliffe Stadium.
  • A NorthJersey.com article highlights Montclair’s partnership with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office to publicize and explain the Blue Envelope program that provides officers with “immediate, accessible information about autistic and otherwise neurodivergent people.”
  • Keith Strudler (School of Communication and Media), offered commentary to WAMC Northeast Public Radio about the LSU Tiger.

Kudos

  • To Gerard Costa (Family Science and Human Development), who was named the 2024 Lifetime DIR Champion by the International Council on Development and Learning (ICDL).
  • To Roman Liera (Educational Leadership), who contributed to a published chapter in the open access Racial Equity Justice Institute Handbook. The chapter highlights a faculty coalition transforming practice and policy to retain Faculty of Color.
  • To Tim White and Jessica Epstein (International Academic Initiatives), and Daphne Galkin and Temeshia Lemons (University College), who hosted partner delegates from the University of Seoul to discuss a similar implementation of Montclair’s Discovery Program on their campus abroad, introducing students to majors and careers of interest earlier in their college journey.
  • To Christopher Parker (Theatre and Dance), whose two poems, “An Exchange at the World Trade Center” and “The Wooden Boat”, were published in the Bronze Bird Review.
