Register and learn how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders and how to provide initial help and support.

Reminders

Order Your Commencement Regalia by Friday, November 8
Faculty participating in the academic processional must wear academic regalia. The deadline to order your regalia is Friday, November 8, 2024. Orders will not be accepted after this date. All orders will be shipped directly to the University Bookstore and may be picked up at the Graduation Fair:

  • Bloomfield Campus (Bloomfield faculty only): Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 12-6 p.m. in Deacon’s Den,Talbott Hall
  • Montclair Campus (Montclair or Bloomfield faculty): Monday, December 16, 2024 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. in the Student Center Ballrooms

All regalia must be returned at the conclusion of your participation in Commencement. University Bookstore representatives will be at Commencement in the robing room.

To keep our campus secure, remember: never to share your username, password, or two-factor authentication (2fa) code. The university will never ask you for this information. If you have accidently shared your credentials please change your password immediately and notify the Service Desk.

    • Fanny Lauby (Political Science), answered questions for Le Monde readers about the importance of immigration in the electorate and in the platforms of the two White House candidates, and spoke to NorthJersey.com about the dos and don’ts of voting on Election Day.
    • Timothy Purnell (Educational Leadership) participated in a Q&A with NJ Spotlight News about New Jersey school board elections.
    • Daniel Geltrude (Adjunct, Accounting and Finance) is quoted in this Scripps News story about financial planning at different stages of life. Geltrude also appeared on Newsmax to weigh in on various economic-related news topics.
    • Thomas Franklin (School of Communication and Media) wrote a piece for NorthJersey.com calling for the U.S. to lift its embargo on Cuba.
    • Keith Strudler (School of Communication and Media) offered commentary to WAMC Northeast Public Radio about the World Series.
  • Daily CSR, a news publication about corporate social responsibility, highlighted the PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies Green Teams program in an article about sustainability and STEM programs that are helping to empower our “future Earth heroes.”

  • To Jordanna Maziarz (Undergraduate Admissions) and Danielle Insalaco-Egan (Undergraduate Studies), who led a team of colleagues to obtain a $125,000 grant from the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (OSHE) for Project Restart, Montclair’s contribution to the state’s Some College, No Degree initiative.
  • To Cathy Renna (Communication and Media), who will receive the Barbara Way Hunter Trailblazer Award at the 2024 PRSA-NY Big Apple Awards.
  • To Maria Stanish (Nutrition and Food Studies), who was selected as the Registered Dietitian for the month of October 2024 by the New Jersey Academy of Nutrition Dietetics (NJAND).
  • To Rebecca Ofrane (Public Health), who won the 2024 Effective Practice Award from the American Public Health Association (APHA)’s Maternal and Child Health Section.
  • To Milton Fuentes (Social Work and Child Advocacy), who received a Presidential Citation at the 2024 National Latinx Psychological Association conference.
  • To Laura Quiros (Social Work and Child Advocacy), who served as a panelist at the 2024 Prospanica National Conference and Career Expo in Orlando Florida. As a founding Board member for the Prospanica Center for Social Justice, she shared knowledge on inclusive leadership to Latine leaders across the country.
  • To Deborah Chatr Arymontri (Classics and General Humanities), who will be presenting at the 2024 New Jersey History Conference. Her presentation will discuss “‘Appleseed’ John Cotton Dana: A Catalyst for Civic Engagement at the Intersection of Culture and Politics in Newark’s Community.”
  • To Arnie Korotkin (Sociology) who was appointed to the Clifton Advisory Committee for Individuals with Disabilities. The committee advises the Clifton City Council in matters concerning residents with disabilities.
  • To Team Red Hawk for hosting its fall inter-professional educational collaborative experience on October 25. Approximately 200 undergraduate and graduate students participated in engaging interdisciplinary experiences. Congratulations to faculty members from Dietetics, Athletic Training, Communication Disorders, Public Health, Social Work, and Nursing on a successful event.

  • To Yun Kim (World Languages and Cultures), who organized the department’s first Korean Speech Competition themed, “My Favorite Korean Word.” Thank you to Soyoung Lee (Family Science and Human Development), Sunhee Song and Su Jin Jung (World Languages and Cultures), who served as expert judges.
