Montclair Journalism Students Spotlight Migrant Crisis on NBCU Academy

In preparation for the upcoming election, students looked at what Gen Z considers the biggest issues, traveling to a battleground state to report from the U.S.- Mexico border.

Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health hosts Statewide Preschool Inclusion Leadership Conference

The event brought together over 200 superintendents, directors of special services, early childhood directors and principals who are working together to support high-quality inclusive education beginning in public preschool programs.

Reminders

  • The In The Know employee newsletter and the events digest will alternate each Monday for the remainder of the summer. Requests for both the newsletter and the events digest need to be submitted no later than Wednesday the week prior for inclusion.
  • ​​The University’s current digital printing contract with Studio 042 will end on Thursday, July 11. Starting Friday, July 12, the University will transition to a new contract with One Source Solutions. As part of this change, a new punch-out system will be established for printing needs. Further details and instructions will be provided soon.
  • Pride month celebrates the importance of acceptance and equality for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community. The LGBTQ center provides resources that help make the University an inclusive environment supportive of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.
  • We are looking to highlight employees who make all areas of the University work. Nominate yourself or a fellow colleague that the University community should know more about for a Red Hawk Spotlight. We aim to showcase everything from day-to-day work responsibilities and achievements to personal hobbies and interests.
  • Download the Parking Logix app to check for available parking on campus.
  • Request our pupscot, Pebbles and Rocky the Red Hawk at your upcoming events!
  • Lost and found items may be brought to the Student Center information desk in the 2nd floor lobby. Browse the inventory of lost items or file a claim for lost items.
  • Concerned about a student’s well-being? Please fill out a CARE Report form to connect students to mental health support and resources. Faculty and advisors can complete an alert via Navigate for academic concerns.
  • To receive training on the use of hemorrhage/bleeding control and Narcan kits, contact EMS at 973-655-7836 or ems@montclair.edu.
  • The Employee Assistance Program provides free, confidential support services for employees and their families. For more information, view the CONCERN brochure.

  • Rocky and Roxy’s new looks are debuting next month! Please take inventory of where the current mascot looks are utilized in your respective areas (including websites and print) in preparation for the update. Be on the lookout for official photos of the mascots in the coming weeks!

Retirement News

  • After over five decades of service to Montclair State University, Helen Roberts will be retiring on June 30. Helen has worked as a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and served as its chairperson for 17 years. She has been instrumental in hiring a large number of the current math department faculty, who will all miss her and the vast institutional knowledge that she has provided. She has made notable contributions to general education reforms, the graduate council and the remedial math program, while serving on several committees at the University. All in the department deeply appreciate Helen’s service and mentorship and wish her a wonderful retirement.
