- Burak Tamac (Political Science and Law) wrote a piece for Coindesk about presenting bitcoin as the first step in a journey of financial literacy.
- Research by Tarika Daftary-Kapur (Justice Studies) and Tina Zottoli (Psychology) on recidivism of juveniles given lengthy sentences was mentioned in this Washington Post article. Daftary-Kapur was quoted discussing the importance of second chances and outcomes for those who have received such chances.
- Milton Fuentes (Psychology) is quoted in this Diverse: Issues in Higher Education article about a recent incident concerning Howard University and mental health concerns on college campuses.
- Audiology Worldnews highlighted the University’s Audiology Clinic in an article about virtual reality technology that helping to enable research.

Trenton Lobby Day
- Your voice matters! Register to join faculty, staff and students on Thursday, May 2 in Trenton to speak with state legislators to ask them to fund higher education at Montclair and Bloomfield College of Montclair State University. Participants must be registered voters, preferably in the State of New Jersey. Participants not registered to vote will be registered on event day. Food and transportation will be provided. Important Updates
- University Mascots Rocky and Roxy are getting a new look coming July 2024! Please take inventory of where the current mascot is utilized in your respective areas (including websites and print) in preparation for the update. More information to follow from Student Communications in the coming weeks!
- The New Jersey Division of Pensions and Benefits special enrollment period closes Tuesday, April 30. Learn about the new Aetna medical plan and how to enroll. Upon enrollment, the Aetna medical plan will become effective Monday, July 1. Log into the Benefitsolver website by accessing a link on the MyNewJersey portal or via MyNJBenefitsHub to access additional information. No action is required if you do not wish to make any changes to your current medical plan.

- Information on University events have moved to a weekly events digest via email. To submit your event for consideration, use the existing In the Know submission form and choose the new “Events” field.
- The Hill at Yogi Berra Stadium is now open! Enjoy concessions from local food vendors and breweries. View the vendor schedule.
- Lost and found items can be brought to the Student Center information desk in the 2nd floor lobby. Browse the inventory of lost items or file a claim with a description of your lost item to be notified if it is returned.
- Make parking easier by downloading the Parking Logix app to check for available parking before you leave for campus. The app provides real-time updates on parking availability in the parking decks and lots.
- Request the company of our university pupscot, Pebbles at your upcoming events! Let Pebbles be a paw-sitive presence at your event, fostering a sense of well-being and support for everyone involved.
- The University has partnered with Ascendium Education Solutions®, a leader in student loan repayment support, to address any questions or concerns regarding federal student loans. Call 833-707-1220 or email successcenter@ascendiumeducation.org for assistance. Also check out the MSU GradReady website for additional resources available to help with managing your financial needs.
- Take advantage of the State Employee Discount Program with access to discounts in various categories.
- EMS has installed hemorrhage/bleeding control kits and Narcan in Automated External Defibrillator (AED) cabinets on campus and is offering training sessions on how to use the hemorrhage control and Narcan kits. If you or your department would like to participate in these training sessions, contact EMS at 973-655-7836 or ems@montclair.edu.

- Concerned about a student’s well-being? Please fill out a CARE Report form to connect students to mental health support and resources. Faculty and advisors can complete an alert via Navigate for academic concerns.

- To Cassandra Etienne (Communication and Media), who has been chosen to receive the 2024 President’s Award of Service by the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists.
- To Jo-Ann Robinson (School of Nursing), who was invited to be a speaker and co-presenter at the Association for Nursing Professional Development’s Aspire Conference, along with a book signing for her chapter authored in Core Curriculum for Nursing Professional Development (6th ed.).
- To Dawn Marie Hayes (History), who received a level two grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Humanities Collections and Reference competition for a three-year interdisciplinary public and digital history project that documents the history of Sicily.
- To Zachary Aidala (Social and Behavioral Sciences, Bloomfield), accompanied four Honors Program students to the Northeast Regional Honors Council annual conference where three students presented their research.
- To Peter Desarno (Accounting, Bloomfield), who hosted the Cyrus H. Holley Applied Ethics Forum along with representatives from the NJ Sharing Network who led a discussion on ethics and morality of organ donation.
- To Monica Taylor (Educational Foundations) and Emily Klein (Teaching and Learning), whose book, Our Bodies Tell The Story: Using Feminist Research and Friendship to Reimagine Education and Our Lives, received a 2024 Society of Professors of Education Outstanding Book Award honorable mention.
- To Enza Antenos (World Languages and Cultures), who co-hosted the webinar “Professionally Speaking” for the Florentine publishing house, Alma Edizioni, aimed at cultivating career readiness skills among language students.
