- November 13-17 is Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. The Volunteer Center is working with numerous departments and student organizations to raise awareness through service projects, educational sessions and advocacy projects. Check out the full calendar of events.
- Got a parking ticket? During the week of November 13-17, you can donate canned goods to pay for one citation. Read the story for more information.
- Join Occupational Health for an awareness-raising discussion on Healthcare Disparities and Cultural Competency on Wednesday, November 15 from 10 to 11 a.m., University Hall, Room 1040. For questions, contact Irene Quinones, quinonesi@montclair.edu.
- Faculty and staff are invited to attend an online webinar, Prioritizing the Mental Health and Emotional Well-Being of Students of Color in Classrooms and Beyond on Wednesday, November 15. This session will provide practical guidance for promoting well-being in campus learning environments and supporting the mental health of students. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the unique experiences of undergraduate and graduate students of color. Registration is required.
- Peak Performances will present a screening of the award-winning animated French film comedy Triplets of Belleville accompanied by a live jazz orchestra playing the original score and conducted by the score’s composer, Benoît Charest, on Thursday, November 16, at 7:30 p.m.
- Mark your calendars for Winter Commencement: January 8, 2024. Advanced registration is required for all faculty and staff attending. Registration closes on Monday, December 4. Register at the Commencement website.
- Bloomfield College of Montclair State University is hosting the 11th annual performance of the Heasun Jung Korea Traditional Academy of Arts on Saturday, November 18, 6-7:30 p.m., in the College’s Van Fossan Theatre at 63 Fremont Street in Bloomfield. Tickets are free (up to four). Registration is required for tickets.

- Worried about a student’s well-being? Please fill out a CARE Report form to connect students to mental health support and resources. Faculty and advisors can complete an alert via Navigate for academic concerns.
- In addition to Counseling and Psychological Services on campus, Uwill offers students an immediate, secure and convenient way to receive free teletherapy counseling services. Students are able to choose a therapist based on their preferences including day, night and weekend availability, subject matter, gender, language and ethnicity.
Support Rocky’s Closet and Red Hawk Pantry
Support Rocky’s Closet this fall by donating new or gently worn winter items including coats, gloves, scarves, hats and more. Red Hawk Pantry is also in need of non-perishable and personal hygiene donations. Clothing items can be brought to Student Center Room 113A. Food and hygiene items can be brought to the pantry (Blanton Hall, Room 1200) during open hours or donated via the Amazon wishlist. - EMS has installed hemorrhage/bleeding control kits and Narcan in Automated External Defibrillator (AED) cabinets on campus and is offering training sessions on how to use the hemorrhage control and Narcan kits. - Did you know the Center for Writing Excellence is open to all University employees? The center provides free, confidential appointments for feedback on all types of writing including professional documents, emails, memos and improving general writing skills. - Mindfulness Meditation is held every Monday online, 12-12:30 p.m. and open to all with an interest in learning about meditation and developing mindfulness. Register here.

- To President Jonathan Koppell, who joined College Presidents for Civic Preparedness, a new initiative of The Institute for Citizens & Scholars aiming to facilitate shared learning and greater impact through partnership toward the goal of readying college students to be empowered citizens.
- To Maughn Gregory (Educational Foundations), whose book on the life and scholarship of Ann Margaret Sharp, co-founder of Montclair’s Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children, was translated into French and published this month by Vrin – Pratiques Philosophiques, Paris.
