Reminders

  • Need a booster or a COVID-19 vaccine? Essex County will be on campus August 1 and August 8 to administer vaccines. Look for details in upcoming emails.
  • You can check the COVID-19 Dashboard to find the latest campus COVID data, including case numbers.
  • If you or a loved one is experiencing a mental health crisis or thinking about suicide, help is available. Call or text 988, the new nationwide 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline for free, confidential support, 24/7.
  • Members of the University community are invited to meet the participants of the 2022 Pre-College Access Institute on Wednesday, July 27 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. in the University Conference Center. Register here.
  • Testing on the Banner system on Wednesday, July 27 will lead to a three- to four-hour outage on Banner services (including NEST) starting at 8 p.m. Check your email for more information.
  • The Center for Community Engagement and the Volunteer Center are partnering with MedShare to help provide medical supplies for the war in Ukraine. They are collecting gauze from now until August 8 at donation box locations: CSI 104J, Cole Hall 131 and Overlook Floor 3, or find out more about donations here.
  • In the Know is distributed monthly during the summer. You can submit kudos for inclusion, but due to space constraints, not every submission can be published.

Kudos

  • To Lavone Broxton (Postal and Warehouse Services) for being honored by the National Association of Colleges and University Mail Services, which recognizes excellence in management and those who have made significant contributions to their institutions. Broxton’s many accomplishments include establishing a campus passport service and making Montclair the first college in NJ to bring Amazon lockers to campus.
  • To Gina Miele (World Languages and Cultures) who was featured in a Sardinian newspaper about Sardinian folklore, the critical study of documents relating to saints (hagiography), folk medicine and endemic Sardinian medicinal plants.
  • To Stefanie Batten Bland (Theatre and Dance), whose new show “Embarqued: Stories of Soil” will premier Nov. 1 – 5 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music as part of its Next Wave 2022 series.
  • To Milton Fuentes (Psychology), whose recent scholarly collaboration has produced a concentrated series of books published by Rutgers University Press examining child maltreatment at the intersection of feminism, multiculturalism and social justice.
