- President Jonathan Koppell’s op-ed Why are Montclair State students being short-changed? appeared on May 12, on NJ.com. The op-ed takes a look at the state’s investment per student through the lens of racial and economic equity and shows how New Jersey invests less in minority and low-income students.
- Wendy Lin-Cook (Enrollment Management) gave an interview to Inside Higher Ed for an article about how colleges and universities are addressing “the summer melt” and other enrollment concerns.
- Deva Panambur (Accounting and Finance) was interviewed for NJ.com’s NJ Money Help column about whether to give money to children now or have them wait for an inheritance.
- Inside Edition reporter Leigh Scheps ’08 was a guest on a recent episode of “The Friday Reporter,” a PR Daily podcast. In detailing her professional career, Scheps credits the University for its “awesome” broadcasting program that allowed her to get her “hands dirty in every possible way of production.”
- Anneliese LaRose ’08 was featured on the podcast: “Let’s Get Real – Women in Leadership,” LaRose discusses developing leaders in the workplace.
- Christopher Salvatore (Justice Studies) is quoted in this Louisiana Weekly article about a study showing that New Orleans experienced the worst homicide spike in the U.S. during the pandemic.
- Paul Bologna (Biology) was interviewed by How Stuff Works about the venomous Portuguese man-of-war jellyfish.
- Jason Williams (Justice Studies) is quoted in this San Francisco Chronicle article about the city’s diversion program under district attorney Chesa Boudin. (Note: This article is subscriber-only).
- Emily Isaacs (OFA, Writing Studies) contributed to a piece in The Chronicle of Higher Education that asks experts for recommendations for solving the “student-disengagement crisis.” Isaacs’ advice to faculty is to encourage and require student engagement in their classrooms, among other suggestions.
- Ariel Alvarez (Political Science and Law) is quoted in this NJ.com article that discusses how and why New Jersey workers’ names become public once they appeal an unemployment claim.
- Stephanie Silvera (Public Health) is quoted in an article in the Bucks County Courier Times in Pennsylvania about the new COVID variant that is spreading in the state.
- Harold Abraham ’11, ’15 MA (Educational Leadership) spoke to the website Wealth of Geeks for an article about why it’s important to teach kids about financial literacy.
- John Luttropp (Emeritus Professor, Visual Communication Design) was interviewed by Phil Edwards of Vox.com for a video on the subject of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Pope-Leighey House.
- Teresa Fiore (World Languages and Cultures) was interviewed on Italian national TV about Women’s History Month on an episode of “L’Italia con voi.” The program offers a mix of news, information and entertainment for a targeted audience of Italian expats around the world. Read more on our website.

- On Monday, May 16, masks will become optional in all indoor and outdoor spaces except for clinical care settings. As a courtesy, please ask if the people you’re in close contact with would prefer masking.
- We’re moving to Handshake on Monday, May 16. This new recruiting platform replaces Hire a Red Hawk.
- Monday, May 16, is the deadline for enabling 2-Step Verification on your University Google account. Check your email or IT website for instructions
