Athens, Greece
In late June and July, Theatre and Dance faculty members Jessica Brater, Mark Hardy, and Randy Mugleston were in residence in Athens, Greece along with 18 of their students. For 4 weeks, they studied ancient Greek drama and visited important historic sites in the birthplace of Western theatre traditions. Their adventures took them from the islands to the mountains around the site of the ancient oracle at Delphi to the ruins of the city of Mycenae, home to the Agamemnon story. Each day in Athens they studied in sight of the Acropolis and the Parthenon. It was an immersion in contemporary Greek culture and art as well. The group was hosted by the Hellenic American University campus in Athens.
Barcelona, Spain
In May 2022, Professor Maxine Steinman took 23 Dance Majors on a 12-day study abroad trip to Barcelona, Spain. The itinerary was filled with exciting activities that included Flamenco and Contemporary dance performances and classes, a tapas tour, a visit to the Salvador Dali Museum, Parc Guell, La Sagrada Familia, Montserrat and many other sights, both in and around Barcelona. The students got a taste of the fantastic cuisine of Catalunya in addition to having a very inspiring and flavorful cooking class.
