Musical Theatre Students Celebrate Broadway

In celebration of their 25^th Anniversary, Broadway Inspirational Voices invited Montclair State’s Musical Theatre program to perform one of the gospel organization’s original arrangements in a video-taped performance. Montclair State joined other illustrious Musical Theatre programs in this invitation-only celebration, which includes Carnegie Mellon University, Syracuse University, University of Michigan, New York University, as well as schools in the UK, Australia, and Europe.

The Department of Theatre and Dance, the Cali School of Music, and the School of Communication and Media all collaborated for this very special multi-disciplinary event.

An ensemble of eighteen musical theatre majors performed “You Will Be Found” from the musical Dear Evan Hansen, under the musical direction of Greg Dlugas. The Founding Artistic Director of the Broadway Inspirational Voices, Tony Award winner Michael McElroy, came out to campus and joined the ensemble for an exciting rehearsal prior to taping.

The ensemble’s performance was filmed in the Presentation Hall by a team from the School of Communication and Media, and the final culmination of this magnificent collaboration will be viewed by thousands on the Broadway Inspirational Voices’ website as part of their “Broadway Our Way” series.
