The information below represents what we are seeking in a TOSD Additional Certification candidate and does not necessarily represent all of the items required for the application. All candidates must meet application and admission requirements as defined by The Graduate School.
Applicants for this program must have a bachelor’s degree and possess a standard certification in a secondary-level content area or in K-8 with subject matter specialization.
Applicants must also meet the following requirements:
- An overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 in undergraduate and/or graduate degree
- Two letters of recommendation from professional references that attest to the applicant’s readiness for advanced study and abilities in working with children
- A statement on goals for continued education
Students admitted to this program can also apply to the Graduate School to continue their studies in the Masters of Education (MEd) in Special Education program which includes the 21 credits required for the Additional Certification plus an additional 12 credits of course work.
