The Clinic for Evidence-Based Practices in Schools (CEPS) offers a range of services using a behavioral ecological consultation model (Sheridan & Kratochwill, 2007) to address behavioral (social-emotional/mental health) and academic needs for at-risk and special education students (ages 5 to 21) and provides coaching and training supports for schools in establishing effective systems that facilitate successful implementation of evidence-based practices.
These services include:
Direct Services for Children & Families:
- Assessments & Interventions (individualized needs of students)
- Behavioral supports (functional behavioral assessments, behavioral intervention plan)
- Academic supports (curriculum-based assessments, academic interventions across reading, math, writing, spelling)
Consultation Services for Schools
- Consultation & Technical assistance
- Consultation and training for school staff for multi-tiered systems of support
- School-wide programs such as School-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), School Mental Health (SMH) and Response to Intervention (RTI))
- Teacher consultation for classroom management, social skills lessons, group interventions
- Individual student interventions for intensive needs
- Facilitating cross-system collaboration
- Working on strengthening home-school communication and interventions
- Connecting schools and hospitals/community clinics to create school-based health clinic
- Consultation and training for school staff for multi-tiered systems of support
Professional Development for School Staff and Other Professionals
- Professional development (for teachers, staff, teams and administrators)
- Professional developments, in-services and workshops.
- Requests for specific training accepted.
Services are provided both at the Clinic on Montclair State University campus as well as on-site (i.e., in schools) based on need and type of service. All the services provided are within an evidence-based practice framework, which includes using research-based assessment and interventions, on-going supports for implementation, data-based decision making, progress monitoring and collaborative decision-making process.
