Every year a variety of awards are given and ceremonies held to celebrated various student groups on-campus. This year includes the Dean of Students Awards, Greek Life Awards and the Inclusive Excellence Awards. Additionally, ceremonies for Black Student Leaders, and LGBTQ+ Leaders will be held. Below you fill find all the information you need about who qualifies, how to apply, date of the ceremonies and deadlines.
Black Student Leaders
We would love to celebrate you and everything you have done as a student leader to advance and education Black students on-campus!

- This ceremony is self-nominated.
- Only graduating seniors will be eligible and will be verified by the Dean of Students Office.
Deadline to apply: Tuesday, March 31

Qualifications
- First-Year
- Sophomore
- Junior
- Graduating Senior (August ’19, January ’20, May ’20)
- Graduate Student

Please note this is not a scholarship or grant award.
Deadline to apply/nominate: Friday, April 17, no later than 5 p.m. Applications submitted after 5 p.m. will not be considered.
Greek Life Awards
There are two categories for nominations, the first is chapter based awards and the second is individual awards.
You do NOT need to fill out every entry for your submission to be eligible. You can submit multiple nominations for the same award, please however make a new submission form each time. You may also choose to select any awards you would like to make a nomination for.
Chapter Awards
Outstanding Scholarship Award
- Actively implemented systems to improve their individuals members and overall chapter grade point average
- Positively impacted the Montclair State Greek Life community through the organization’s academic development
Outstanding Leadership Award
- Gone above and beyond building leadership skills among chapter members
- List the other clubs/organizations members are apart of
Philanthropic Excellence Award
- Shown outstanding philanthropy efforts
- Impacted the Montclair State community through their philanthropic efforts
- Educated the community about their organization’s philanthropy
Outstanding Community Service Award
- Contributed to the community through service projects, clean ups, etc.
- List the amount of hours every member completed throughout the 2018-2019 year
Outstanding Public Relations Award
- Improved their social media to provide chapter members and the Greek community with more information about what is going on within their organization
- Has gained followers and continues to grow and promote other organizations or councils
Educational Program/Theme Week of the Year
- An outstanding educational program/theme week your organization or council has held that has impacted and benefited the entire community
Outstanding Program/Theme Week of the Year
- An Outstanding Program/Theme Week your organization or council has held that has impacted and benefited the entire community.
Council of the Year (IFC, NPC, NPHC, TLC, IGC, UGC)
Only ONE council will be awarded Council of the Year
- Explain why one council is deserving of the Council of the Year award
- Has engaged members, created new programming, scholarship and leadership opportunities
Chapter of the Year
- Excelled in areas of chapter management, brother/sister/siblinghood, academic programming, new member/intake programming, scholarship, philanthropy and service initiatives, exemplifying values, risk management, campus involvement and Greek Life community involvement
Individual Awards
Outstanding Campus Advisor
- Gone above and beyond to support the growth and achievement of the chapter
- Supported the Montclair State Greek Life community
- Establish positive relationship with the members of the organization
Greek Leader of the Year (Two individuals will be awarded Greek Leader of the Year.)
- Made significant contributions to their organization and the Greek Life community
- Demonstrated the values of their organization and the Greek Life community
- Exemplified the pillars of the Greek Life community (leadership, scholarship, philanthropy, service and brother/sisterhood/siblinghood)
Greek President of the Year (One president from each sub-council will be awarded Greek President of the Year.)
- Demonstrated outstanding service to their organization and its mission during the 2018-2019 school year
- Demonstrated the values of their organization and the Greek Life community
Unsung Hero Award
- Made significant yet unrecognized contributions to the Greek community at large
- Positively influenced the Greek community from behind the scenes
Campus and Community Involvement Award
- Made significant contributions to the Montclair State Campus and Community through membership in outside clubs, teams, departments, and volunteer opportunities
Greek Unity Award
- Made significant effort to form relationships with members outside their own organization
- Has made significant strides to bridge the gap between councils
Amanda “Ducky” Quesada Award
- Shown passion about the Montclair State campus
- Very involved in the Greek community
- Who strives for Greek Unity and is always willing to reach out or help other organizations when needed
Senior Distinction
- Dedicated themselves to their chapter throughout their entire senior year
- Make significant contributions and a lasting mark on the chapter
Nominations for Greek Life Awards will be accepted until Sunday, April 12, 2020
**All applications are reviewed by Fraternity and Sorority Life professionals from across the country.**

Inclusive Excellence Awards
The Office for Social Justice and Diversity at Montclair State University is accepting nominations for nine (9) awards recognizing outstanding members of our community this year. These awards will derive out of our four Centers (The Center for Faith and Spirituality, LGBTQ Center, Multicultural Center, and The Women’s Center).
Qualifications
- You may nominate yourself, someone else or even a department or organization!
- Please read through the categories and apply / nominate accordingly.

Social Justice & Diversity
The Office for Social Justice and Diversity (OSJD) is excited to announce our combined graduation ceremony acknowledging the academic accomplishment of our students of color and LGBTQ+ community. We will be celebrating and recognizing your accomplishments in our Office for Social Justice and Diversity Graduate Recognition Virtual Yearbook! Participants must be Summer 2019, Fall 2019, Winter 2019, or Spring 2020 graduates. Complete the registration form to be included in the virtual yearbook.
