The Global Center on Human Trafficking (GCHT) needs your help! We are excited to announce an art competition to design a sticker that will represent the Blue Safe Space Training Program, a collaborative initiative between GCHT and the University Police Department (UPD). This competition is open to all Montclair and Bloomfield students, and we are looking for a creative and impactful design featuring the phrase “Blue Safe Space Trained.” The winning design will serve as a symbol of completion for individuals who successfully finish the training, which aims to equip participants with the knowledge and tools to prevent human trafficking and connect potential victims with appropriate resources and support.

About the Blue Safe Space Training Program

The Blue Safe Space Training Program is a vital initiative focused on preventing human trafficking by raising awareness about this critical issue. The program educates participants on how to recognize signs of trafficking, offer support to victims, and connect them to appropriate resources. As part of the training, participants are also taught the importance of creating safe spaces for individuals to seek help, free from fear of judgment or harm.

By completing this training, participants will be equipped to not only spot the signs of human trafficking but also take active steps in providing support to victims, helping build a more informed and proactive community. The Blue Safe Space Trained sticker will be awarded to those who complete the program and signifies their commitment to raising awareness and making a difference in the fight against human trafficking.

Competition Goal

We are looking for a visually compelling design that communicates the mission of the Blue Safe Space Training Program. The design should symbolize support, safety, inclusivity, and the prevention of human trafficking, while prominently displaying the words “Blue Safe Space Trained.” The chosen sticker design will be distributed to all participants who complete the program, providing a lasting reminder of their commitment to creating a safer, more informed community.

Design Guidelines

  • Theme: The design should reflect the themes of safety, support, awareness, and the fight against human trafficking. Consider incorporating imagery that represents protection, community, and empowerment.
  • Color Scheme: Blue should be the dominant color in the design, aligning with the “Blue Safe Space” concept. Feel free to use complementary colors that enhance the design.
  • Text: The phrase “Blue Safe Space Trained” must be featured clearly in the design. You may also incorporate other elements or text that support the message of the program.
  • Shape: The design will be used as a sticker, so it should work well in a circular or square shape.
Originality: All designs must be original and created by the entrant. Plagiarism or use of copyrighted images will result in disqualification.
  • Size and Format: Submissions should be in high-resolution formats (e.g., .jpg, .png, .ai) and suitable for print (300 dpi) 10 inches (tall) x 8 inches (wide) one sided print.

Eligibility

This competition is open to all current students of Montclair and Bloomfield. Whether you’re an experienced artist or a beginner, we encourage you to submit your unique design to help spread the message of the Blue Safe Space Training Program!

Prizes

The winning design will be used as the official sticker for the Blue Safe Space Training Program and distributed to all who complete the training.

  • The winner will receive a $50 gift card and campus wide recognition.
  • Honorable mentions may also be recognized and featured in future program materials.

Selection Criteria

Designs will be judged based on creativity, relevance to the theme, visual appeal, and overall message. A panel of judges from GCHT, UPD, and the campus community will review submissions and select the winning design.
