This restructured calendar is part of President Jonathan Koppell’s initiative to allow our students to take full-length courses across three semesters (fall, spring and summer), enabling you to have year-round educational opportunities.

Under the new calendar structure, the fall and spring semesters and summer terms will include several sessions. See the new structure below.

Fall and Spring Semesters (3 sessions)

  • Session A = 14 weeks (full term)
  • Session B = 7 weeks (half term)
  • Session C = 7 weeks (half term)

Summer Term (6 sessions)

  • Session A = 14 weeks (full term)
  • Session B = 7 weeks (half term)
  • Session C = 7 weeks (half term)
  • Session D = 4 weeks
  • Session E = 4 weeks
  • Session F = 4 weeks

All partial terms will be nested within the 14-instructional week term.

What Are the Benefits?

  • Consistent Lengths: The fall, spring and summer will now have an equal number of days or weeks to maintain consistency and help you make your plans accordingly.
  • Mid-Semester Fall Break: This change allows us to split each semester into two 7-week sessions with a well-timed break in the middle of the semester.
  • Two Common Hours: There will now be two times every week, during the fall and spring, where no classes will be held, allowing for clubs and organizations or important meetings to happen without overlapping with class times! The updated Common Hours are Monday and Wednesday from 2-3:30 p.m.
  • New Time Grid = Help with Traffic: The time grid was adjusted to reflect new start and end times for classes, with less overlap to help with room optimization, which in turn, should help with some of the campus traffic, alleviating congestion during peak times. This change also accommodates the new, shorter, 14 week semester.

We’re excited for this new calendar structure, which brings more flexibility and consistency to your academic planning. Get ready to make the most of your year-round educational opportunities starting on the first day of the spring 2025 semester which kicks off on Friday, January 17, 2025 and ends on Monday, May 5, 2025.
