What Can I Do?

If you made a mistake or left information off of your FAFSA or you received your FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) with an error message, you and your parent(s)/step-parent or spouse can make corrections to the FAFSA for the 2024-25 year.

Typical errors include:

  • Missing signatures (student and/or parent(s))
  • Not providing consent for the IRS Direct Data Exchange (DDX)
  • Indicating your parents are unwilling to provide their information on the FAFSA
    • This answer limits you to only unsubsidized loans – no grant or scholarship funding

Please Note: There may be pauses on the system for corrections; return to the FAFSA later to complete your corrections

What Will Happen When I Update My FAFSA?

  • Your FAFSA changes will be re-processed in 3-5 days.
    • You will receive an email with the revised FAFSA.
  • The college(s) you list on the FAFSA will receive your corrected FAFSA.
