Wildfire Smoke Advisory

Our region is currently experiencing poor air quality due to smoke from wildfires in Canada.

The University is monitoring the situation closely and taking precautions. All students and employees should report as scheduled.

Public health officials recommend wearing a mask when outdoors, avoiding strenuous activities, and remaining indoors as much as possible. Forecasters predict that the smoke will continue to affect our area for the next several days.

All campus buildings are equipped with MERV 13 filters, which are capable of trapping and removing a large percentage of the small particles that pose a health risk. These high quality filters are better than those found in most home air handling systems. In addition, University Facilities has adjusted air handling units to bring in the least possible amount of outside air.

Employees whose job duties require them to work outdoors will receive modified assignments and/or protective equipment as needed.

Employees who are at high risk due to medical conditions should discuss options, including flexible working arrangements, with their supervisor.
