The University has updated the guidance provided in Hawk Check to align with current CDC recommendations. These changes reflect that we as a community are in a better place regarding COVID-19 infections, but we need to remain vigilant. Tools such as vaccination, testing and masking protect us and our campus and remain an important strategy. The CDC guidance and local case rates will continue to inform our decisions in updating our policies.
This Hawk Check update will help individuals to better understand what actions to take if exposed to COVID-19 and what to do if they are sick or test positive for the virus. When the new Hawk Check rolls out the evening of October 28, individuals who report symptoms or exposure will receive specific steps to take. Instructions include testing and isolation requirements.
What to Do if You Are Exposed to COVID
CDC recommends you observe precautions after an exposure regardless of your COVID vaccination status but quarantine is no longer recommended. Therefore, Hawk Check will not direct you to remain home. Hawk Check will provide instructions and a CDC informational link.
What to Do if You Have Symptoms of COVID
Regardless of your COVID vaccination status, if you are experiencing symptoms, the CDC recommends that you stay home or in your residence hall and get tested as soon as possible as well as other health measures. Hawk Check will provide instructions and a CDC link.
Remember, always do your Hawk Check before coming to campus.
