We’re Moving to Handshake!

Important Information – Upcoming Career Platform Transition.

Montclair State University is excited to announce our move to Handshake, the University’s new online hub for jobs, internships, career advising appointments, career events, resources and more! Handshake is the preferred platform among employers seeking to recruit early talent. On Monday, May 16, Montclair State University will join a network of over 1,400 universities and institutions and over 550,000 nonprofit and for-profit employers small and large, including all of the top Fortune 500 companies. Handshake will replace our current career services management system, Hire a Red Hawk.

Handshake for Employers

On Monday, May 2, the University’s employer partners will be invited to join Montclair State’s Handshake network. Through this platform, employers will have access to:

  • One global Handshake account making it easier to recruit at Montclair State
  • Powerful applicant filtering options and direct messaging for impactful networking

Handshake for Students and Alumni

On Monday, May 16, students and alumni will receive an invitation with instructions on how to claim their Handshake accounts. Handshake offers an enhanced experience for users, regardless of career interests, majors, or work experience. Students and alumni will have access to:

  • Machine learning to provide tailored content and personalized job recommendations
  • A mobile app for expanded reach and increased engagement
  • The ability to follow employers of interest and receive alerts when new opportunities are posted

Important Information for Faculty and Staff

Handshake will replace Hire a Red Hawk for all student assistant and federal work study recruiting. On Monday, May 2, departments who already recruit through Hire a Red Hawk will receive an email inviting them to set up their Handshake employer accounts. Additional instructions for those departments will follow.
