Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:
Preparations for resuming the Spring semester are moving along nicely, and I am looking forward to the resumption of teaching and learning on Monday, March 23.
Faculty are vitally important in delivering our mission, and I have appreciated the hard work and dedication you’ve shown in rising to the challenge of transitioning 100% of our courses to online delivery. If you haven’t already, please see the first-day checklist we put together for you.
Students, please know that your professors are looking forward to “seeing” you again and engaging in intellectual discussions online and in video conferences. We’re doing everything we can to help you finish out your semester successfully. You may find Professor Caroline Dadas’ tips for succeeding in online classes helpful. Remember, we’re still here for you.
Sprague Library will remain open as a study center so that any student who needs access to a computer and the Internet can have it. The furniture will be reconfigured to allow plenty of distance between people, as part of our social distancing strategies.
Our librarians will be working remotely so that students, faculty and staff will continue to have access to library resources online, including streaming media and consultations with librarians via chat, email or text.
Through this stressful and uncertain time, one thing is certain: we will get through this together.
Sincerely,
Willard P. Gingerich
Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost
