Student Government Scholarships

The Student Government gives out over $15,000+ worth of scholarships to undergraduates, based on merit, academics, leadership, community service, and financial need. Below are the scholarships, please print and fill out as many that apply to you. These scholarships can be found in the Student Government office as well. Best of luck!

SGA Eby Ohmadike Memorial Scholarship
  • SGA Eby Ohmadike Memorial Scholarship
    • $1000.00
    • This award is dedicated to the memory of Eby Ohamadike and intended for a full-time student who has dedicated time and effort to educate the campus community on cultural diversity and pride in their particular cultural background. In addition, the recipient must have exhibited a desire to bring different sects of campus together in celebration of collective heritage.
    • 2.75 GPA, at least 30 credits, and must complete a 500 word essay about how you have dedicated time and effort in educating the campus community on cultural diversity and pride in their particular cultural background.
SGA Transfer Student Scholarship
  • SGA Transfer Student Scholarship
    • $500.00
    • This award is intended for full-time students of at least sophomore status who have transferred into Montclair State University. Awards will be based on GPA and campus involvement.
    • 3.0 GPA, at least 30 completed credits completed (at least 12 credits must be from Montclair State University), and an 500 word essay on your experience transferring to Montclair State University, (include academic excellence and leadership).
SGA Commuter Student Scholarship
  • SGA Commuter Student Scholarship
    • $500.00
    • This award is intended for students who are commuters and have demonstrated a great dedication to engaging on their campus.
    • 2.75 GPA, at least 12 credits completed at Montclair State University, and a 500-word essay on your experience as a commuter student and your involvement on campus.
SGA Castanon Dreamer Scholarship
  • SGA Castanon Dreamer Scholarship
    • $1,000.00
    • The SGA Dreamer Scholarship was created to empower and assist DACA recipients and undocumented students.
    • Must not qualify for federal aid, and a 500 word essay on your experience as an undocumented student and your career goals.
SGA Outstanding Freshman Scholarship
  • SGA Outstanding Freshman Scholarship
    • $1,000.00
    • This award is intended for freshmen who have shown campus involvement and exhibited excellence in leadership while maintaining academic excellence.
    • 3.5 GPA, no more than 29 completed credits. (All to be completed at Montclair State University), and a 500 word essay on your first year experience at Montclair State University.
SGA Non-Traditional and Veteran Student Scholarship
  • SGA Non-Traditional and Veteran Student Scholarship
    • $500.00
    • This scholarship is intended for non-traditional or veteran students. Non-traditional Students include but are not limited to: Students over 25 years of age OR; Students who have dependents other than a spouse or; Students who are single parents Recipients must exhibit academic excellence and a desire for learning to enhance their career or personal goals.
    • No GPA Requirement, at least 12 credits completed at Montclair State University, and a 500 word personal essay related to your non-traditional/veteran experience.
SGA Outstanding Student Scholarship
  • SGA Outstanding Student Scholarship
    • $1,000.00
    • This award is intended for full-time students who have maintained a high standard of excellence in their academic endeavors. Awards will be based on academic achievement, campus community involvement, and leadership experience.
    • 3.5 GPA, at least 30 completed credits, and a 500 word essay on consistent commitment to academic excellence, and campus community involvement. Personal/professional reference with contact information. Engage Co-Curricular Transcript.
SGA Executive Scholarship
  • SGA Executive Scholarship
    • $1,000.00
    • This award is intended for students who have maintained a high standard of excellence in their academic endeavors while committing time to either a SGA Executive, Legislative, or Judicial Branch or an SGA Registered Student Organization. Awards will be based on the quality of service and academic achievement.
    • 3.0 GPA, at least 30 completed credits, and a 500 essay on commitment, academic excellence, and campus involvement.
Dr. Edward Martin Scholarship
  • Dr. Edward Martin Scholarship
    • $1000.00
    • This award is in recognition of Dr. Edward Martin, former Dean of Students at Montclair State University. Award will be based on excellence in leadership and dedication to bettering and serving the campus community.
    • 2.75 GPA, at least 30 credits completed, and a 500 word essay about your excellence in leadership and service to the campus community.
SGA Amanda Ducky Quesada Memorial Scholarship
  • SGA Amanda “Ducky” Quesada Memorial Scholarship
    • $1,000.00
    • Amanda “Ducky” Quesada, a Phi Sigma Sigma sorority sister since fall 2010, defied expectations after being diagnosed with Primary Pulmonary Hypertension at age one. Despite medical predictions, she pursued her dream of attending Montclair State University, becoming the first in her family to attend college. Amanda, known for her infectious smile and enormous heart, sadly passed away on July 22, 2014, at the age of 22. To honor her memory, the “Amanda Quesada Memorial Scholarship” is awarded to a student displaying exceptional school spirit and community contribution through volunteerism and philanthropy.
    • 2.75 cumulative GPA, at least 30 credits, and a completed 500 word essay on how you have demonstrated school pride and participated in philanthropic endeavors and volunteer work. Proof of Community Service can include but is not limited to: Letters/emails from those who supervised/organized the service project Letter of involvement in a community service based organization.
