Ruth Propper (Psychology, CEHS) received $ 94,416 from the US Army Natick Soldier Research Development & Engineering Center Broad Agency for the second year of “Research on Predictors of Emotional State and Cognitive Processing Abilities.” The project objective/purpose is to use neurocognitive monitoring and individual differences to determine factors and conditions underlying cognitive and perceptual biases that impact negatively on performance, and to identify and test mitigation techniques to reduce the negative impact of such biases on cognitive performance.  Specifically, the efficacy of using tympanic membrane temperature (TMT) as a measure of neuronal activity, as an indicator of physiological arousal states such as anger, aggression, and fear, and as a predictor of cognitive performance and perceptual biases, will be assessed.
