Alumni Give Back
Glenn Tynan ’80 deeply values his Montclair State education and his gift to the Feliciano School of Business has been recognized in the naming of the “Glenn E. Tynan Commons.”
College leaves an indelible mark for many students, and it carries forward when alumni are able to give back. That’s the case for Glenn Tynan ’80, who deeply values his Montclair State education and whose gift to the Feliciano School of Business is recognized in the naming of the “Glenn E. Tynan Commons” on the first floor of the School.
“It is all of the opportunities available at Montclair State that provided me a tremendous foundation from which to be successful in my work career. And for that, I will always be grateful,” he shares.
Tynan emphasizes the importance of getting involved while he was at Montclair State, where he took on numerous activities and leadership positions including working in the cafeteria, joining the Accounting Club, and serving on the student advisory committee, the Housing Policy Committee, as president of the Residence Hall Federation and as assistant director of a residence hall, supervising resident assistants. He stayed on campus over the summer, serving as a group facilitator for Summer Life workshops.
Tynan, who is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Curtiss-Wright Corporation, graduated the Feliciano School of Business with a major in Business Administration and concentration in Accounting. After jobs with accounting firms that included PricewaterhouseCoopers, he landed at Curtiss-Wright Corporation where he has served for the past 20 years. Curtiss-Wright delivers highly engineered, critical function products and services to the commercial, industrial, defense and energy markets.
“Generous gifts to the Feliciano School of Business enable us to offer students a rigorous and innovative educational experience, through effective initiatives such as mentoring, networking, executive lectures, career development services and much-needed scholarship support so we can give students the chance to transform themselves into business leaders,” says Greg Cant, dean of the Feliciano School of Business.
The plaque commemorating Tynan’s gift reads: “Coming from a very humble upbringing and being the first in my family to earn a college degree, it gives me great pleasure to give back to the institution that provided me with a great foundation for success. Work hard. Get involved. Take advantage of the opportunities at Montclair State University.”
With his words to inspire and his gift to help build business skills, Tynan has left his own enduring mark that will benefit students for years to come.
