Welcome to the Next Generation of the School of Communication and Media
By Anna Dillon
Throughout October, the School of Communication and Media (SCM) celebrated its 10th anniversary with SCM 2.0, a series of events to recognize student success, faculty research, alumni involvement, generous donors and the launch of new majors.
These events included open discussion and Q&A sessions, allowing students to gain valuable insight and career advice from industry leaders and Montclair State University alumni in film, television, sports and other areas.
The next generation of the School of Communication and Media students also visited campus in October for “Shadow an SCM Student Day,” where area high school students toured SCM’s state-of-the-art facilities, attended events, and learned about all nine majors in the School.
The School of Communication and Media also showcased the latest addition to its incredible facilities with the official opening of The Joetta Di Bella and Fred C. Sautter III Center for Strategic Communication. This state of the art facility is one of a handful of its kind in the nation. The Center will help prepare the next generation of strategic communication professionals through hands-on instruction on social listening platforms, consumer insights, analytics, content creation applications, and nimble media production tools.
