WMSC Earns Seven National Awards from College Broadcasters, Inc.

Montclair State University’s student radio station WMSC 90.3 FM earned seven national awards from College Broadcasters, Inc. (CBI) on October 29, including first place honors for Best Audio Special Broadcast (“World College Radio Day”) and Best Video Comedy (“We’ll be Back”).
The station also won a second place award for its Audio Documentary “Focus Racial Justice,” a third place for Best Imaging, and two fourth place awards for “Best Newscast” (“May the 4th”) and “Best Hard News (“Pipeline Hack”).
In addition, station General Manager Anabella Poland received the 2021 Joel Willer Award, which is named for one of CBI’s most influential members. The award is presented for exceptional dedication and service to student electronic media
CBI is a member-driven organization serving students and advisers of college and high school electronic media outlets. Through events, programs and a network of expertise, the organization provides its members with educational and professional opportunities and facilitate advocacy.
In addition to WMSC, students can get involved in many media organizations, clubs and co-curricular activities on campus, including the school’s newspaper (The Montclarion), news station (News Lab), sports network (Red Hawk Sports Network) and agency (Hawk Communications).
