From many windows in the School of Communication and Media, the New York City skyline dominates the view.

New York City is just one hot-spot for communication professionals . According to Forbes Magazine, the fields of media and entertainment will be among the nation’s fastest growing industries over the next decade, and that growth will be centered on the East and West Coasts.

In the New York metropolitan area, growth is projected to be nearly nine percent.  High school students who would like to learn more about the wonderful career opportunities in these growth industries are invited to attend Montclair State University’s School of Communication and Media first ever “Communication and Media Day,” on April 4.

Communication & Media Day introduces college-bound students to Montclair State University’s School of Communication & Media.

The event features participatory workshops run by faculty and students on advertising, crowdsourcing, gender and race media representations, motivational speaking, acting for filmmakers, developing story ideas for movies, and television and radio production. In addition, participants hear an overview of the School and its programs; learn about exciting communication and media careers; take an optional campus tour; and attend a Speaker event.

“All of our faculty are working professionals who can provide the necessary skills, contacts, and internships that give our students an advantage when they enter a very competitive job market,” says film program coordinator Roberta Friedman.

Students will gain invaluable information about the many jobs available in the ever-evolving communication and media fields.

Individual students and school groups are invited to participate.
