Graduate Lisa Marcellari Well Positioned for a Public Relations Career

Lisa Marcellari came to the SCM at the beginning of her junior year, and she didn’t let the grass grow under her feet. Four internships in two years, the PR program’s top academic award, and a finalist for the Public Relations Society of America New Jersey chapter’s 2018 Future PR Pro of the Year award, Lisa is proud to state she has maximized her time at Montclair State. Initially, she chose the university because of its close proximity to numerous internships and job opportunities, but, in looking back, her SCM experience became so much more rewarding Her senior year is when she believes everything came together. An internship with Gillian Small Public Relations allowed her to work on the Green Giant project that ultimately made the Guinness Book of Records for having served the world’s largest green bean casserole. Then, she was part of a PR Management team that developed a strategic plan for a Portland, Oregon based oncologist who developed a line of undergarments for women undergoing breast cancer treatment. She hopes to move to either New York City or Hoboken and pursue a career in PR. What motivates her today is the knowledge that hard work pays off, and she is confident in her ability to succeed.
