Basic TV service is provided at no additional cost; however, if you want to watch TV you must have the QAM tuner.

What is a QAM tuner?
- QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) is the format by which digital cable channels are encoded and transmitted via cable television providers.
- The QAM tuner is a form of a receiver; it receives and processes digital television transmissions through a cable. It reads a certain kind of signal sent by your digital cable provider, and translates it so your television can read and process it properly to generate your television shows.
How will I know if I need a QAM tuner?
- The QAM tuner comes in two forms, either an internal device that is part of your inner TV, or an external device that can be plugged in to your TV.
- First, check to see if the TV has an internal tuner by searching the specifications section of your TV manual. If you no longer have your TV manual, locate the make and model of the TV and look up the specs online.
- If your TV does not have an internal QAM tuner, an external QAM tuner will need to be purchased in order to receive channels.

How do I set up my TV?
Method 1: Analog cable & digital cable – Internal QAM tuner
- Connect one end of the coax cable into the wall jack and the other end to the TV.
- Set the TV to CABLE or CATV.

- Verify that your TV has the proper QAM tuner (internal or external). Without a QAM tuner you will not receive the channels.

How much does the Stream2 service cost?
The Stream2 streaming service is provided at no additional cost to all resident students.
How do I access the Stream2 service?
To access the Stream2 service:
- Download the Stream2 app to the device of your choice from your app store.
- If you are viewing from a laptop or web browser, go to https://webplayer.mystream2.com
- Once the app is downloaded or you access the website, use your MSU NetID and password to log into the app and start streaming!
- Please remember that streaming is only available on campus on the MSU-Secure or MSU-Wifi WiFi networks.
What devices am I able to use with Steam2?
The Stream2 app is available on multiple devices including iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets and your laptop.
Can everyone on-campus access Stream2?
No, Stream2 is only available for current Montclair State University residential students. When you sign up for the Stream2 service, you must confirm that you are living on campus in order for the registration to be accepted.
How come my service isn’t working with my WiFi off?
In order to utilize Stream2, you must be on-campus and connected to either the MSU-Secure or MSU-WiFi networks. You cannot access the service from your device’s data.
