Professor David J. Townsend recently published a study in Lingua, Volume 206, April 2018. The study is titled “Stage Salience and Situational Likelihood in the Formation of Situation Models during Sentence Comprehension.”
Townsend is a University Distinguished Scholar and the director of the Sentence Comprehension Laboratory. His research focuses on measuring eye movements during reading to examine the use of structural and semantic information during sentence comprehension. He specifically focuses on identifying the mechanisms that form an aspectual interpretation of a sentence, the “when, how often, and for how long” of “who did what to whom.”
