Institute Director Presents Keynote at Environmental Leadership Awards Breakfast
The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ) and its flagship publication, COMMERCE Magazine, celebrated environmental leadership in the business community.

Dr. Tuininga shared some of the great ways that our faculty, students, and staff support efforts to conserve and improve the environmental conditions in and around the communities in which we live and work. This is prevalent through, for example, our Green Teams work in Jersey City focused on emissions reductions, our student efforts to develop and support municipal Green Business Recognition programs, our support of faculty research for development of waste water treatment, study of soil enzymes’ response to contamination in brownfields such as Liberty State Park, and investigation of street tree condition and mapping to create proactive planning for Emerald Ash Borer spread.
It was great to meet many environmental professionals whose work aligns with our efforts and to celebrate the positive environmental changes occurring in light of Earth Day.
