In 2009, former Provost Willard Gingerich and former Dean of Library Services Judith Lin Hunt established the University Authors Recognition Program to acknowledge and celebrate the scholarly and creative achievements of Montclair’s faculty and staff. In addition to celebrating their accomplishments, the program enhances:
- Dissemination: Recognizing faculty publications encourages the sharing of their research and creativity, potentially leading to wider readership, citations, and impact.
- Discovery: The program brings increased attention to faculty publications, making them more discoverable by students, researchers, and the general public. This can lead to increased downloads, citations, and applications of the research.
- Collaboration: Recognition can spark interest in faculty research, leading to new collaborations and partnerships
Overall, the program strengthens Montclair State’s reputation as a center for scholarship and innovation. By recognizing faculty achievements, the university fosters a culture of research excellence and promotes the creation and dissemination of knowledge.
Categories of Works
- Author or co-author of a monograph or textbook or exhibit catalog.
- Translator or co-translator of a monograph or textbook or exhibit catalog.
- Editor or co-editor of an edited volume or textbook or exhibit catalog.
- Artist/composer/performer/producer of a commercially published work and/or publicly performed medium resulting in a CD or DVD.
- Catalogs of exhibitions in the University Galleries.
Submitting Your Works to University Authors
Academic and creative works published by Montclair State University faculty, staff, and administrators are recognized each year. University Libraries curates an annual list of these works in the Digital Commons repository. Authors are requested to submit their works during the fall semester. A reception is held in Sprague Library each spring as part of this program. Learn more about how to submit your works.
