Profile
Professor Watkins-Taylor is currently a part of the First-Year Writing Studies Program at MSU. The program has a dual-enrollment component collaboration with Newark Public Schools at University High School and East Side High School called the Red Hawk Rising Teacher Academy. Students in the program were guided by Professor Watkins-Taylor in WRT 105 and WRT 106 in order to complete college credit hours. Prior to joining MSU, Professor Watkins-Taylor's committment to student writing and development achievement impacted both developmental and English language learners at Bloomfield College and Passaic County Community College. The outcomes of students in these programs were maintained at 75% success rate and a great deal of students went on to complete ENG 101 courses without constraint. In her free time, Professor Watkins-Taylor is a part of Hoboken's In Full Color Writing Workshops "Revising Out Loud" intent on completing dramatic, poetic, and monologue works-in-progress related to the empowerment of BIPOC and diverse communities.
