Profile

Dr. Lynette Reitz received her BS in elementary education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, her MSW from the University of Chicago, and her PhD in human development and social work from Marywood University. Dr. Reitz teaches classes in human behavior, generalist practice with organizations and communities, and is the MSW Program Director.

She retired from Lock Haven University where she served as BSW Program Director and past chair of the Department of Social Work and Counseling. Dr. Reitz serves as a Commissioner on the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Commission on Accreditation (COA) which is the accrediting body for all social work programs in the United States. She serves on the COA Executive Committee, is chair of her work group, a mentor for new Commissioners, and the Candidacy Committee. Dr. Reitz is privileged to serve on the joint COA and Commission on Educational Policy writing committee which is responsible for writing the 2022 Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.

Dr. Reitz regularly presents about social work education and curriculum, rural social work, and administration of social work programs at national conferences. She presented findings about community health workers in rural Pennsylvania from a grant-funded study she assisted with at a regional conference for nursing home professionals.

Dr. Reitz's practice experience includes medical social work, private practice with individuals, couples, and families, and crisis intervention. She is a team leader and mental health member of the Seven Mountains/Susquehanna Valley Critical Incident Stress Management team that provides debriefings and defusings to fire, EMS, police, and health care providers.
