Profile

Brian Lutz has a diverse work experience that spans over a decade. Graduating in 2011 from Montclair State University's then Broadcasting department. Being able to return to Montclair and teach at the School of Communication and Media, coupling real world experience and a practical, rigorous hands-on approach to teaching is a true honor to give back.

Brian started their career in 2010 as an intern at CNN, where they gained hands-on experience as an Operations Student Trainee and later as an Intern for American Morning. In 2011, Brian began his television career working as a Media Coordinator at CNN New York.

After that, Brian joined CNBC in 2011 as an Ingest Operator and then transitioned to roles at CNN, including Media Coordinator. Brian continued to grow in their career at CNN, taking on roles as a Media Coordinator / Assistant Editor and eventually as an Editor Producer / Assistant Editor. Brian worked at CNN until 2022. Contributing to shows such as Anderson Cooper 360, Reliable Sources, and CNN International's Long Form Documentary Unit.

In 2021, Brian started working as an Adjunct Professor at Montclair State University, where they shared their expertise with students.

In 2022, Brian joined CNBC as a Transmission Coordinator / Digital Video Editor, responsible for coordinating transmission and editing videos for CNBC Digital's Video team.

Most recently, in 2023, Brian joined ABC's Good Morning America and Vox Media as a Content Contributor and Video Editor. Brian was recently accepted to Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication, pursing a Master's in Science in Media Management.

His goal is to both teach the art and science of Film, Media, and Television Production as well as provide honest and practical advice and mentoring to all his students.
