Profile
I am the Academic Advisor for Special Programs and Transfers in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) Student Success Center. I provide academic advising to students in all majors and also serve as the Academic Advisor for all students in the new Online BA in Psychology.
I am an Adjunct Professor and have been teaching a variety of classes since 2004.
I have taught the following:
GNED199 New Student Seminar
JUST204 Justice, Courts & Legal Systems
JUST205 Perspectives on Justice Studies
JUST351 Juries & Justice
JUST497 Senior Seminar & Internship
PALG210 Law & Litigation
PALG308 Negotiation, Mediation & Arbitration
PALG339 Computer Applications in the Legal Environment
PALG497 Paralegal Seminar & Internship
My goals are to:
- provide students with information on registering, schedule planning and degree completion
- enhance student learning and development
- aid in student success and persistence
- anticipate the academic advising needs of the diverse student population at Montclair
I hope to help students foster their intellectual and personal development toward academic success and lifelong learning. I encourage all students to meet with their Academic Advisor at least once per semester to ensure they are on the right track towards a timely graduation.
Specialization
I specialize in Program Management and Academic Advising. I am currently focused on the new online BA in Psychology. Prior to this role, I directed the Award-Winning, nationally-ranked American Bar Association (ABA) Accredited Paralegal Studies Program for over a decade. I handled course scheduling and planning, hiring and observing faculty in the program, and maintained program compliance with the ABA.
I was awarded the Outstanding Academic Advisor Award from MSU and also from NACADA. I practice intrusive advising; which involves deliberate intervention to enhance student motivation, proactively monitoring grades, and taking any and all opportunities to connect with students. My goal is to ensure every student that comes in contact with me knows they are cared for and supported.
