Professor Lauren Carr has an MFA in 3D Animation from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York. After receiving her MFA in 2000, Professor Carr taught Autodesk Maya to the traditional animators at DreamWorks Feature Animation in Glendale, CA.
Professor Carr became a crowd simulation technical director during the production of "Spirit" at DreamWorks SKG. Professor Carr later worked for Sony Pictures Imageworks as a character rigger on the Oscar-winning animated short, "Chubb Chubbs."
Professor Carr proceeded to work on "X-Men 2" at Kodak's Cinesite in Hollywood, California, rigging the Night Crawler character. Following Cinesite, Professor Carr was a character technical director on "Chicken Little," "Meet The Robinsons," "American Dog" / "Bolt," "Christmas Carol" and "Tangled" at Disney Feature Animation in Burbank, CA.
In 2010, Professor Carr worked as a character cloth simulation technical director on "Rio," "Ice Age," "Epic" and "Rio 2" for Fox's Blue Sky Studios in Greenwich, CT. While she worked at Blue Sky, she taught 3D character modeling and rigging, using Maya, in the BFA Computer Art Department at SVA in New York, NY.
Professor Carr is an Associate Professor and Director of the BFA Animation & VFX in the School of Communication and Media at Montclair State University. She also holds a seat on the NYC chapter board for the Visual Effects Society.
