Presidential Search Update

Dear Montclair State University Community,

I would like to update you on the status of the search for the University’s next President.

I am gratified to report that the presidential search process is proceeding well, and as originally outlined in the plan I presented to the University community last October. I am very grateful for the excellent efforts of the large and diverse Search Committee, selected to be reflective of the University community, who worked with our consultant, WittKieffer, to consider more than 65 candidates for the position. From that pool, the Search Committee selected and then interviewed a diverse group of eleven and ultimately recommended five highly qualified candidates for the Board of Trustees’ consideration.

The Board is completing its interviewing and referencing of those candidates and we expect to reach a decision and announce the new University President around the beginning of June 2021.

I know how eager you must be for the completion of this very important process, and I thank you for your patience.
