Fashion Design

Get one step closer to your dream of being a Fashion Designer! The Fashion Design Pre-college Summer Program invites young fashion enthusiasts seeking the opportunity to evolve into emerging designers. Developed by apparel designers who are esteemed Montclair State University Fashion Design faculty, this 1-week program is a fun immersive approach to learning foundational techniques in apparel design. Students will engage in hands-on learning through sketching, garment construction, and rendering, while also creating mood boards and selecting fabrics to enrich their understanding of the design process.

This experience will introduce participants to essential skills for developing a strong portfolio for undergraduate fashion programs while boosting their confidence for a future career in the fashion industry.

  • Learn essential skills in apparel design, including sketching and garment construction.
  • Create mood boards and explore fabric selection to enhance design understanding.
  • Build a strong portfolio and gain confidence for future fashion endeavors through hands-on projects and critiques.
  • Learn to draw inspiration for fashion from life by taking a day trip to view the latest fashion exhibition in NYC.

Fashion Design will run during Session I: Sunday, July 13 – Saturday, July 19, 2025.
