Water Resilience: how clean is our water? will introduce you to water quality, aquatic ecology, pollution control, and water conservation, as well as explore various career opportunities in water science and technology. This program organized by the New Jersey Center for Water Science and Technology combines classroom learnings, laboratory exercises, and guided field trips. Participants will have an opportunity to explore advanced instruments and techniques used by scientists and apply these skills toward hands-on exercises.
Please be aware that in order to participate in this program, you must be willing to participate outdoors for long periods of time.
In this program, you will:
- Learn about water quality, aquatic ecology, pollution control, and water conservation
- Get hands-on experience with scientific instruments and techniques in water science and technology
- Explore various career opportunities in water science and technology
- Participate in guided field trips
Program Goals
- Introduce students to water science and technologies as well as career opportunities in water science and technology
- Empower students to be climate-ready and water-resilient.
- Spark scientific curiosity and motivate students to want to learn more about water resilience and to take actions in their daily lives to support sustainable practices, conservation strategies and water resilience initiatives.
- Increase students’ confidence in their ability to someday become professional scientists by familiarizing them with a university environment.
- Providing students with positive role models in the form of college students, professors, and working scientists.
