Core Requirements to be Completed by the End of the Sophomore Year

Students entering as freshmen are required to complete certain courses during their first two years of study, as specified below:

Courses to be completed in the first year:

  • Freshman Seminar Requirement
  • WRIT 105 – College Writing I
  • WRIT 106 – College Writing II
  • A mathematics course fulfilling the General Education requirement for the student’s major or prospective major
  • For students who have been admitted to a major, a 100-level course required in the major field of study or required as a prerequisite to the major field of study

Courses to be completed by the end of the second year:

  • All Freshman level writing or math requirements not successfully completed in the first year
  • CMST 101 – Fundamentals of Speech
  • CMPT 109 or 112, or a more advanced Computer Science course required by the student’s major
  • For students who have been admitted to a major, a 200-level course required in the major field of study or required as a prerequisite to the major field of study
