Welcome to the Phish Files!
Posted in: News

We’re excited to launch the Phish Files, a new resource to help students, faculty, and staff stay safe from phishing scams. Think of it as a digital “phish bowl” where we share examples of phishing emails targeting our campus, along with tips to avoid them.
What Are The Phish Files?
Phishing emails are a common way cybercriminals try to steal personal information or hack accounts. The Phish Files is a collection of real phishing attempts reported by the campus community. Each example is broken down to show how the scam works, what to watch for, and how to stay safe.
Why It Matters
Phishing attacks can lead to compromised student accounts, identity theft, and even breaches of sensitive campus systems. By staying informed, we can collectively reduce these risks. Whether you’re an experienced tech user or someone who just learned how to spot a suspicious link, the Phish Files are here to help everyone stay one step ahead of cybercriminals.
How You Can Help
We encourage all students, staff, and faculty to participate. If you receive a suspicious email, forward it to phishfiles@montclair.edu. Your submission could become part of the next Phish Files post, helping others avoid similar traps.
